What are the differences between a scientific congress and and harm reduction conference?
First of all you see many more men wearing suits that you almost never get a chance to see in a scientific meeting...UNODC (Drug and Crime organization), WHO, policy makers and stakeholders. But you have also dressed down people...NGOs, networker of drug users and other activists!
Political games are at the rendez-vous just as in any conference. While in science you would be fighting for one project here they divide the planet...like this director of a big Institute of harm reduction telling to an UNODC guy: "Sorry man you arrived to late, we got the mission there, no space for UNODC!"
The poster sessions as every where...the ones you want to see are not in front of their posters!
But what is great is that I am going around with a myth of the harm reduction field, the French chairwoman of the Harm reduction network who kindly introduces me to all the other stars. In addition, and as you may know me by now, I am not afraid to introduce myself and ask questions during the sessions...so I have met quite a larger bunch of people, from US, Australia, India, Serbia and of course the Italian network ;-)
N NPL POZDROWIENIA ... should mean something like Greetings ;-)
